Eight Degrees
by Tesla

Sunnydale /when there was a Sunnydale/, Los Angeles was always eight degrees hotter.

It's something to say, on the trip back. Angel probably never watched the Weather Channel in his life, but he doesn't say anything. When there's no blood being shed, words have to be said, to fill up the empty spaces between you.

And when did Angel's fears and failures become yours? When did Spike feel that he had to say anything?

"Of course, Sunnydale is a lot hotter, now," he could say. But he doesn't want to stress that he was there, and Angel was on the sidelines, when the Hellmouth finally ate Sunnydale.

Not right now.

So he picks up the stupidly small bottle of Jack, and draws breath to speak.
